Making Newton a Welcoming City

Highlights of  my work 2015-2019

I’m proud that I led the charge to create the Welcoming City ordinance.
As Chair of the Zoning and Planning Committee I've shepherded
  • A new Inclusionary Zoning Ordinance
  • An ordinance to regulate short-term rentals that benefits providers and their neighborhoods
  • Vision Plans for Needham St and Washington St
  • The Economic Development Plan
  • The Climate Vulnerabiity Plan
  • The Cabot School upgrade. I worked with neighbors and parents to promote a design and site plan that worked for everyone – neighbors, children and teachers alike. Isn't the new school wonderful?
  • I co-docketed  and shepherded the passage of the drone ordinance to protect our privacy.
  • I Chaired the Zoning and Planning Committee
  • I led the work to shorten the winter parking ban to help citizens with no driveway
  • I've supported many constituents to solve big and small issues
  • I co-sponsored  intiative for municipal aggregation that could save rate payers on our electric bills.
  • I co-docketed and passed the revised accessory apartment ordinance. It will provide new opportunities for homeowners to stay in their homes as well as housing opportunities for renters.
  • I work on sustainable land use policies to enhance our village centers by supporting housing and economic growth  (Supported and voted for both Austin St and Washington Place to enhance Newtonville)
